Two things that work curiously well in this movie: Brendan Fraser makes for an impressive Eisenhower, and weather forecasting makes an impressive dramatic hinge.
What works less well: Aggregating multiple real-life people into one character who also represents a single real-life person (the British one, of course!). The landing scenes are a bit random. Some arguments are a bit late (Why wait to be in the room with the generals to explain to your colleague why his method is wrong?)
